At Joe Black Barbershop, our barbers are passionate about their profession and take pride in their artistry. It’s not just another haircut for them.
Born in Louisiana, John Brown, also known as “Joe Black”, began cutting hair over thirty years ago. Throughout New Orleans, his haircut and its distinctive style was known simply by his nickname. So when customers came to John requesting a “Joe Black”, he took it as more than a validation of his hair cutting skills and he knew that he had found success.
After Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, John came to Houston thinking it to be a temporary destination. However, Houston’s community welcomed him and his family with open arms, allowing John to make it his home. Since opening up his barbershop, John has invested in the Houston community by participating in school drives, drawing coverage from local news stations and praise from community leaders. John’s compelling personal story and that of his shop has been recognized by the city, with the proclamation of Joe Black Barbershop Day on September 6, and has been chronicled in a documentary shown in a national film festival.
From New Orleans to Houston, and now in Pearland, John has worked to ensure that customers always receive personable service and an exceptional haircut that exceeds their expectations. So come to Joe Black Barbershop when you want more than a haircut, come to get a “Joe Black”. We look forward to seeing you! Call us today for more information or to book an appointment.
